First Nations Dance Lab – Expressions of Interest Now Open!

We are seeking EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST from First Nations Dance Practitioners across SEQ North Region and City of Gold Coast to participate in a 3 Day Dance Lab to be held on Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island) from 9 – 11 November 2020.
Produced by BlakDance in partnership with Creative Arts Alliance as part of Regional Arts Services Network (RASN), Quandamooka Yoolooburrabee Aboriginal Corporation (QYAC), and City of Gold Coast; the Dance Lab is an opportunity for up to ten dance practitioners to come together, learn new techniques for creating dance and storytelling that connects Kinship and Country.
Through this three day residency on Minjerribah we hope to achieve:

Relationships between dance practitioners and communities in the region

Seeding of new ideas

Development of movement and dance style

Cultural exchange through dance
-
Innovation and experimentation of your current dance style
The dance lab is open to individuals of any career level and any style of dance from emerging through to established.
To be eligible for Application, you must:

18 years or over
- Identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander

Be living within the SEQN Region (Gympie, Noosa, Sunshine Coast, Moreton Bay, Somerset or Redland local government areas) or City of Gold Coast

Or have cultural connection to Quandamooka, Waka Waka, Kabi Kabi/Gubbi Gubbi, Yugambeh, Kombumerri, Bundjalung/Bandjalang, Yuggera/Yaggera/Jagera, Turrbal, Butchula/Badtjala or Jinibara peoples.
Expressions of Interest close Thursday 22nd October. Outcomes notified by Friday 30th October.
